Born out of the depths of workwear culture and its evolving aesthetics, SEDIMENTAL WORKS, 1975–2025 is Carhartt WIP’s new book dedicated to fifty years of the iconic Active Jacket.
It is not a simple celebratory catalogue, but an editorial object that treats a work jacket as a form of cultural sediment, capable of layering memories, uses, gestures and imaginaries. Created in collaboration with the Paris-based creative studio ILL-STUDIO, the volume explores how a single garment can move through eras and contexts without truly changing shape, while radically transforming its meaning: from the workshop to the punk concert, from the construction site to European club culture, from protest scenes to the informal runways of street style.
