Adidas Original by Craig Green Drop 1

This week adidas Originals officially launches part two of their collaboration with Craig Green with a focus on some iconic reinterpreted styles and newly updated versions of some silhouettes. First seen earlier this year on the runways of Craig Green’s AW20 show in January, each pair of shoes was designed with intricacy, innovation and function in mind with the goal of creating products that showcase the meeting of Green’s complex world of design with adidas Originals’ iconic classic heritage.

One of the main characters of the collaboration this season is the iconic adidas CG SUPERSTAR sneaker which Green adds his flair to, by envisioning the shoe through the lens of his archetypal methods and using a quilting technique to piece together the classic design.

“It’s a privilege to create our version of such an icon as the adidas Superstar. We started by finding the place between both brands where our ideas meet and then explored how these concepts could then be pushed even further,” Green explained. The main attraction of the shoe itself is its line stitching which begins from the toe point and makes its way up to the tongue, which is then aptly complemented by the brand’s essential 3 stripes trademark on the side in contrast stitching. Resulting in a visually pleasing CG SUPERSTAR shoe available in off-white and red or utility black with green.

A new addition to the collection is also the CG POLTA AKH III, which offers a new twist on the CG POLTA AKH released in the first collection earlier this year. It’s re-conceptualized with a transparent layer and monochromatic printed lining with a chic adidas Rivalry sole, which will eventually be available in grey and white. The duo also gives us the CG KONTUUR lll as a flashy new take on the adidas Mundial football boot with line stitch quilting inspired by Green’s fascination with anatomy designed with the muscle formation of the human foot in mind which essentially optimizes comfort.

As seen in the campaign created by Dan Tobin Smith, each shoe included in the collaboration was carefully deconstructed and reconstructed with the intentions of pushing the borders of traditional designs while creating an end product that essentially serves its wearer in the comfort and style.
