Giuliano Calza’s GCDS SS20 collection saw a blend of “Jurassic Park”, Hello Kitty, Kawaii-meets-Hawaii surfer, stripper aesthetic with a hint of 80’s and 90’s inspirations. It was all a mix of interesting references that were interpreted through eighties body-con bathing suits, high cut bikini bottoms over bike shorts, neon colour block shell suits and mesh shorts, shirts and even men’s bikinis with bright neon colours. From GCDS logo shirts to quilted crop tops and skirts, padded jackets and asymmetrical dresses. The GCDS logo was an even more fundamental part of the collection, as seen in the shape of lego-like handbags, on shirts, sweaters, neck bags and t-shirts. The collection also included a slight homage toward more of a sportswear realm with men’s bowling shirts and bleached-out jeans; women’s denim pants fringed like a gigolo’s chaps; ruffled crop tops; nylon track pants and high-low dresses in a manga comics print.
