ERDEM SS23 - Reflecting on history

Erdem’s spring summer 2023 show came at the eve of Queen Elizabeth ll’s funeral , and in many ways the collection was a reflection of history. This was not necessarily as a result of her passing, but more of a coincidence as the brand’s philosophy has always been somewhat rooted in the concept of history. This season , he drew inspiration from the behind the scenes work of museum conservators. “It was this idea of, if you study an object or dress so closely, over such a long time, do you start to become that thing?” He explained. This conversation was brought out through grand floor length ball gowns , embellished trench coat dresses , full floral lace gowns and all sorts of silhouettes that in many ways collected pieces of history and glued them all together.
