Givenchy Fall Winter 2022 - Contemporary Archives

In his second show for the Givenchy house , Creative Director Matthew Williams composed a collection that was a conversation between streetwear and evening wear , while also referencing some of the French house’s most impactful archives. For the collection that was almost fully black with sprinkles of green and denim, things ranged from a street perspective such as graphic and tiered t-shirts, logomania sweatshirts, paired with baggy denim trousers and leather tracksuits, with little touches that reference the house’s archives, such as embroideries on jeans , beaded tops , and long t-shirts that were cut at the hem. The collection was a perfect representation of the designer’s relation to the world of music, playing on street and sportswear in a way that was authentic to the house’s history while at the same time very relevant.
